  Inositol, also known as cyclohexanol, hexahydroxycyclohexane, cyclohexanol, carnitine, or non rotational inositol, is one of the B vitamins. Due to the different orientations of hydroxyl groups relative to the ring plane, there are 9 isomers, of which 7 are non rotational and 2 are rotational (left-handed and right-handed). It exists in all biological tissues in free or bound form in nature and is a common component in animal and plant cells. It can be synthesized by digestive tract microorganisms and participates in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in the body. Animal bodies mainly exist in the form of phosphatidylinositol, which is most abundant in the brain, myocardium, and skeletal muscle; It mainly exists in the form of inositol phosphate in plants and can combine with calcium, zinc, iron, etc. to form insoluble compounds that interfere with their digestion and absorption. When there is a lack of inositol in animal diet, hair loss occurs, which affects development. Inositol is related to intracellular calcium metabolism, and its triphosphate derivatives can be released from lipid conjugates when cells are stimulated, acting as second messengers that can mobilize intracellular calcium ions and regulate many cellular activities such as secretion, metabolism, light conduction, and cell division.
