Polymyxin B nonapeptide is a cationic cyclic peptide composed of 9 amino acids, containing 5 Dabs in its sequence, and its main functional group is amino. It is a peptide derived from antibiotic polymyxin B. Polymyxin B nonapeptide can interact with the outer membrane of gram negative bacteria, thereby increasing membrane permeability by promoting hydrophobic diffusion. Polymyxin B nonapeptide is less toxic, lacks bactericidal activity, and maintains its ability to sensitize gram-negative bacteria to several antibiotics by penetrating the outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria.
