This is a common herb in Ayurvedic medicine, and it is known as Indian ginseng.Traditionally, the berries and leaves are applied externally to tumours or tubercularswellings. The roots are powdered and mixed in milk and honey to treat burns andwounds. Extracts of Ashwagandha are taken as a supplement in 300–500 mg/tablets,3 times/day (Kapoor 2000). Ashwagandha can also be taken as powder served withmilk (Mishra et al. 2000).
