2.3. Synthesis of Schiffbase ligand (H 2 L 1 )

A solution of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde (5 mM) was dis- solved in 15 mL of methanol (A) and a methanolic equimolar solu- tion of 2-hydroxy benzohydrazide was added dropwise to this stir- ring solution A and a few drops of glacial acetic acid were added into the mixture as a catalyst. The reaction mixture was then re- fluxed for 2 h at 60 °C, resulting in a deep, yellow-coloured crys- talline solid product. It was filtered and washed with methanol to get the pure compound. TLC was used to check the completion of the reaction.
