Steps:

9 (2R,3R)-1,2-Epoxy-2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)butan-3-ol

(Example 9) (2R,3R)-1,2-Epoxy-2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)butan-3-ol A solution of 0.12 g (0.45 mmol) of (2S,3R)-1-chloro-2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)butane-2,3-diolin 3 mL of methanol was cooled in ice, and 0.12 g (0.6 mmol) of a 28% solution of NaOMe in methanol was added. Reaction was performed for 2 hours, and 10 mL of water was added to stop the reaction. Extraction was performed with ethyl acetate (10 mL). After drying over anhydrous sodium sulfate, concentration was performed under reduced pressure to obtain a crude product. The resulting crude product was purified by column on silica gel to obtain 0.09 g of the title compound (yield: 96%).
