General procedure: 2,4-Hydroxybenzaldehyde (10.0g, 72.4mmol) was dissolved in acetic acid (20mL), cooled in an ice bath, concentrated nitric acid (20mL) was added dropwise, and reacted at room temperature for 2 hours,The reaction solution was poured into 200 mL of saturated brine, filtered off with suction, and dried to obtain 11.6 g of light yellow solid with a yield of 88%.
