General Procedure for the Synthesis of thePicolylcyanoacetamides

General procedure: The relevant picolylamine was slowly added to stirred neat methyl cyanoacetate (mca). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 h during which time a precipitate formed. The precipitate was recovered by filtration, washed several times with diethyl ether, and finally dried with N2 to yield the pure compound as a white powder.
