Steps:
2 Step 2: 3-hvdroxv-6-methvlpicolinonitrile
A mixture of above product (1.0 eq), TMSCN (3.5 eq) and TEA (2.5 eq) in MeCN (3.0 mL) was sealed into a tube reactor. The mixture was stirred at 150 °C for 2.5 h in a microwave. The reaction was monitored by LC-MS. The mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound as a black oil, which was used directly in the next step without further purification. LC-MS (m/z): [M+H]+ = 135; 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO) d 11.34 (s, 1H), 7.40 (d , J= 8.8 Hz, 1H), 7.36 (d ,J= 8.8 Hz, 1H), 2.33 (s, 3H).
