General procedure: A solution of the appropriate aldehyde (40.0 mmol) in ethanol (30mL) was added to a solution of L-cysteine (5.0g, 40.0 mmol) in water (40mL). After stirring overnight at room temperature the product was filtered and washed with diethyl ether.
