Step DTo the title compound from Step C above (7.42 g, 50.13 mmol) was added a solution of di-tert-butyl dicarbonate (33.7 g, 150.4 mmol) in dichloromethane (100 mL). The solvent was removed and the oily residue was heated at 75° C. in a sand bath for 18 h. The reaction mixture was purified by chromatography on silica using ethyl acetate/n-heptane (10/90) to remove excess di-tert-butyl dicarbonate followed by ethyl acetate/n-heptane (40/60) to afford the title compound as a white solid (11.2 g, 90%).¹H-NMR (400 MHz, CDCl₃): δ=1.52 (s, 9H), 1.87-1.93 (m, 2H), 2.46 (s, 3H), 2.70 (t, 2H), 3.72 (t, 2H), 6.80 (d, 1H), 7.24 (d, 1H)
