EXAMPLE 11 4-Azaisatin STR19 To a solution of 3-aminopicolinic acid (2 mmol, Hurd, C. D. et al. J. Org. Chem. 35:1471, 1970) and sodium carbonate (2.1 mmol) in water is added triphosgene (0.6 mmol). The reaction mixture is allowed to stir for 14 h at room temperature after which time the pH is adjusted to 3 and the resulting precipitate, 6-azaisatoic anhydride, is filtered.
