Steps:

Synthesis of 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate

Triethylamine [121-44-8] (1.22 mL, 0.73 g/mL, 8.77 mmol) was added to a solution of 3,3,3-trifluoropropan-l-ol [2240-88-2] (500 mg, 4.38 mmol) in DCM (15 mL). Then 4- toluenesulphonyl chloride [98-59-9] (869 mg, 4.56 mmol) was added in portions with stirring under ice-cooling at 5 °C. The reaction mixture was stirred at RT overnight. The mixture was diluted with water and extracted with DCM (3x). The combined organic layers were dried (MgS04), filtered and the solvents evaporated in vacuo to yield 3,3,3- trifluoropropyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate (898 mg, 74% yield) as a white solid.
