Example 17. Synthesis of 3-(benzamido)benzoic acid. LiOH?H2O (0.03 g, 0.8 mmol) was added to a solution of 14 (0.05 g, 0.2 mmol) in 4:1 THF:H2O (14 ml). The reaction was stirred for 16 hours and then hydrolyzed with 1 M HCl. The crude product was extracted with EtOAc, dried on Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure. The product was used without subsequent purification (yield: 90%).
