Steps:
1 Step 1 : 3-chloro-5-(Y4-methoxybenzvOoxy)benzonitrile
To a solution of 3-chloro-5-hydroxybenzonitrile (30 g, 0.20mol) in ACN (300 mL) was added PMBC1 (34 g, 0.21 mol) and K2CO3 (55 g, 0.4 mmol), then the mixture was stirred at 70 °C for 4 h. The reaction mixture was filtered and concentrated in vacuum. The residue was purified by flash chromatography on silica (2% EtOAc/P.E.) to afford the title compound. NMR (400 MHz, CDCb): d 7.33 (d, J= 8.0 Hz, 2H), 7.23 (s, 1H), 7.19 (s, 1H), 7.11 (s, 1H), 6.94 (d, J= 8.0 Hz, 2H), 5.00 (s, 2H), 3.83(s, 3H).
