2.3. Catalytic test
The experiments for toluene ethylation with ethanol were per-formed using 0.81 g of catalyst with 1:1 molar ratio of tolueneand ethanol (equivalent to 67:33 wt%) at different reaction timesof 5, 10, 15 and 20 s and temperatures between 300 and 400C.Before each experimental run, the catalyst was activated for 15 minat 610C in a continuous flow of air after which the temperaturewas brought down to the desired reaction level. Once the reactorgets to the reaction temperature, the impeller was started with aspeed of 5500 rpm and the feedstock was injected into the reac-tor via a pre-loaded syringe. At the end of the reaction, the portvalve automatically opened ensuring termination of the reactionand the product was sent to an online gas chromatograph throughthe vacuum box. Each run was repeated to ensure the results can bereproduced with standard deviation in the range ±2%. The responsefactor of each product was taken into account in analyzing theproduct distribution. The conversion, product yield, selectivity andpara-selectivity were determined using the following relations:
