3 Example 3 Preparation of Ν-phenyl m-methoxybenzamide

M-Methoxybenzamide (CAS No. 5813-86-5) 9.07 g (60 mmol), cuprous bromide 1.72 g (12 mmol) and lithium tert-butoxide 14.40 g (180 mmol) were weighed into a 250 mL reaction flask. Toluene (200 mL) was added and stirred to dissolve. Iodobenzene 13.38 mL (120 mmol) was added. The reaction flask was sealed with a rubber stopper, and then connected to a double-row tube, and subjected to a freeze-vacuum-nitrogen-filling operation, three times. After replacing the nitrogen gas, the reaction was carried out for 24 hours under ultraviolet light irradiation. After the reaction was completed, the reaction solution is concentrated by a rotary evaporator, and then separated by column chromatography on silica gel (eluent: petroleum ether: ethyl acetate = 10:1), after purification, 13.23 g of a white solid was obtained, yield 97%.
