Reaction Conditions:

with potassium carbonate in acetone for 24 h;Reflux;

Steps:

4.4 General procedure for synthesis of 3-methoxy flavones and benzoflavones
General procedure: To a solution of 3-hydroxyflavone or 3-hydroxybenzoflavone (2mmol) in acetone (25ml), K2CO3 (2mmol) and methyl iodide (3mmol) were added. The resulting mixture was refluxed for 24h. After completion of the reaction, acetone and methyl iodide were removed under reduced pressure. To the resulting solid water was added, the precipitated product was filtered and washed with water to remove traces of K2CO3. The product was dried at room temperature and recrystallized from ethanol to yield compounds 6-9, 22-25 and 32-34.
