Reaction Conditions:

with NPs-Fe₃O₄-DE-bmim3PW in dichloromethane at 20; for 2 h;

Steps:

N,N-dimethyl-2-(pyridin-4-yl)ethanamine (3b)

4-vinylpyridine (0.53 g, 5 mmol, 1 equiv.) and dimethylamine (0.23 g, 5 mmol, 1 equiv.) were added to a mixture of NPs-Fe3O4-DE-bmim3PW (catalyst I, 3 mol%) in 5 mL of dichloromethane and stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. Purification and separation of the product is similar to the described procedure for compound 1a. N,N-dimethyl-2-(pyridin-4-yl)ethanamine (3b) was synthesised as a viscous yellow oil (0.67 g, 90%).
