Steps:
General procedure: A flame-dried 50 mL round bottom flask equipped with a magnetic stirring bar and equipped with condenser, A mixture of above prepared semi carbazides 20 in 1M potassium hydroxide (20 mmol, 2.0 equiv) was heated to 100 °C and stirred for 1h. After completion, reaction mixture was cooled to 25 °C and acidified using concentrated hydrochloric acid to pH ~2, resulted solid was filtered and dried to get 4-aryl-1,2,4-triazolidine-3,5-diones 21a-l. Compared the analytical data of 4-aryl-1,2,4-triazolidine-3,5-diones 21a-g and 21j and found perfect match with literature data.[a-f]
