General Procedure for the Synthesis of Isoxazole-3-carboxylic Acid (6)

General procedure: Ketoxime 5a (0.161 g, 1 mmol), IBX (0.840 g, 3 mmol), and chloroform (5 mL) were placed in a 100 mL round-bottom flask. The reaction was refluxed for 4 h. The reaction was continuously monitored using TLC. The product 6a was purified using column chromatography with petroleum ether and ethyl acetate (9:1) as an eluent.
