5-maleimido-pentanoic acid 21b (2.0 g, 10.1 mmol) in CH2C12 (20 ml) was added N-hydroxysuccimide (1.50 g, 13.0 mmol) and EDC (7.0 g, 36.4 mmol) and the mixture was stirred overnight, evaporated and purified on Si02 column (EtOAc/CH2C12, 1:10) to afford the title compound 23b (2.43 g, 82%). MS mlz+for C3H14NaN2O5 (M+Na) cald 317.09, found 317.09.
