Preparation 38Synthesis of 6-imidazol-l-ylpyridine-3-carboxylic acid.Place methyl 6-imidazol-l-ylpyridine-3-carboxylate (535 mg, 2.50 mmoles), tetrahydrofuran (12 mL), sodium hydroxide (780 mg, 3.75 mmoles) and methanol (10 mL) in a round bottom flask and heat at 50 °C for 3 hours. Acidify the reaction mixture with 1 N hydrochloric acid and concentrate under reduced pressure until dry. Suspend in methanol/dichloromethane, filter and concentrate to give the title compound as a white solid (0.47 g, 68%). LCMS (m/z): 190.0 (M+1).
