Steps:

A.1.52.3 A. 1.52.3. 6-Bromo-5-methoxy-I -methyl-I H-indazole

To a solution of 6-bromo-i-methyl-1H-indazol-5-ol (1.00 g, 4.27 mmol) in anh. DMF (21 mL) at RT are added cesium carbonate (1.67 g, 5.13 mmol) and iodomethane (0.537 mL, 8.54 mmol) and the RM is stirredat RT, under nitrogen, for 45 mm. Water and DCM are added and the layers are separated. The aqueous layer is extracted twice with DCM and the combined organic layers are washed with brine, dried over anh. MgSO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure affording 6-bromo-5-methoxy-i -methyl-i Hindazole as a pink solid (1.00 g, 98%). LC-MS A: tR = 0.81 mm; [M+H] = 241.04.
