5-amino-4,6-dichloropyrimidine (30 g, 183 mmol) and aniline (21.7 mL, 238 mmol) were added to the solution of hydrochloric acid (8 mL, 91.5 mmol) in EtOH/H₂O (8:1 v/v) (600 ml). The resulting reaction mixture was stirred for overnight at 80° C. and filtered with NaHCO₃(aq)/H₂O. The collected solid was dried under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound (35.8 g, 89%) as white solid.¹H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d₆) δ 8.54 (s, 1H), 7.82 (s, 1H), 7.65 (dd, J=8.8, 1.2 Hz, 2H), 7.28 (t, J=7.6 Hz, 2H), 6.99 (t, J=7.6 Hz, 1H), 5.40 (br.s, 2H). MH+ 221.
