Steps:

1.4 (4) Preparation of cis-5-norbornane-endo-2,3-dicarboxylic acid

In a 2 L flask, 200 g of the compound obtained in the above (3) and 1 L of ethyl acetate were added and 100 g of distilled water was added.The mixture was heated to 50 DEG C, hydrolyzed for 8 hours, and recrystallized from 3 liters of hexane. The resulting solid was filtered andDried to obtain 194 g of a white cis-5-norbornane-endo-2,3-dicarboxylic acid represented by the formula (1). The obtained compound of Formula 1 was identified by NMR (1H and 13C) (JEOL, JNM-LA400) and IR (AVATAR, 360 FT-IR)The results are shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, respectively.
