A mixture of intermediate 14 (5.95 g, 31 mmol), Ac₂O (20 mL), and pyridine (4.90 g, 62 mmol) was heated at 90 °C for 2 h.
After cooling to room temperature, ice water (200 mL) was added and the mixture was stirred for 1 h.
The precipitate was filtered off, washed with water and dried to obtain intermediate 15 as a white solid. Yield: 97%, mp: >250 °C.
