Steps:

Alkylation of 3-methylpyrazole (2) with haloalkanesin the NMO-H2O system (General method).

General procedure: The correspondingalkylating reagent (0.15 mol) was added dropwiseto a mixture of 3-methylpyrazole (2) (6.0 g, 0.15 mol),NaOH (6.0 g, 0.15 mol), and 50% aqueous NMO (50 ml),and stirred vigorously at the respective temperature for 3 h.The reaction mixture was extracted with CHCl3 (3×15 ml).After removal of the solvent, the residue was distilledunder reduced pressure. Yields and physicochemicalcharacteristics are given in Table 2.
