3,5-Diamino-6-Benzyloxyphenyl-1,2,4-triazine compounds - Procedure [31 ; Reaction scheme:; Methyl 3 - benzyloxybenzoate [3]; A mixture of methyl 3-hydroxybenzoate [Aldrich] (15.2g; O.I Omol), benzyl chloride (12.7g; O.IOmol), potassium carbonate (13.8g; O.IOmol), potassium iodide (1.Og) and acetone (150cm3) was stirred at room temperature until no benzyl chloride remained (~24hrs).The mixture was then poured slowly into stirred crushed ice/water (200cm3) and the precipitated solid filtered off. The product was washed with cold water until neutral and dried in vacuo at 45° to give the title compound as a colourless powder.Yield = 23.9g (98.8%)Mpt = 77 - 78°
