Reaction Conditions:
with potassium carbonate;hydrazine hydrate in water at 40;
Steps:
1-(Chloromethyl)benzene(11.3 g, 90 mmol) was added dropwise into the solution of hydrazine hydrate(80%, 15 g, 0.28moland 20 mLwater at room temperature. The mixture was stirred for 15 min after additon and potassium carbonate (24 g)was added. The reaction was monitored by TLC at 40. After finishing the reaciton, 20.0 g NaOH, 80 mL water and 200 mLMBTE was added in subsequence while stirring. The organic layer was seperated and evaporated in cacuo. The residue wascooled to room temperature and added 50 mL n-hexane. The hydrazine was obtained through filteration and dried at roomterperature in vacuo (9.1 g, 82% yield). (Neelu Kaila, et al.
