49.1 Synthesis of chloromethyl acetate
Acetyl chloride (5g,0.O6mol)was addeddropwisetoamixtureofparaform-aldhyde (8.5 g, 0.06 mol) and anhydrous zinc chloride(0.175 g, 0.02 mol) at 0° C. under Argon. The reaction mixture was warmed to room temperature and stirred for 1hour, then heated to 90° C. for 18 hours. The solid was filtered off washed with dichloromethane, and the filtrate was concentrated under vacuum at 37° C. to provide thedesired product (6.6 g, 94% yield). The product was useddirectly (without purification) in to next step and stored with activated molecular sieves (4° A).
