General procedure: The ethyl ester derivatives of the N-2,4,6-trimethylphenyloxamate(2,4,6-Me3pma), N-4-bromophenyloxamate (4-Brpma) and N-4-chlorophenyloxamate (4-Clpma) ligands were prepared by followinga previously reported procedure (Scheme 2) [33,34]. Thecorresponding aniline derivative (83 mmol) was dissolved in THF(250 mL) under dinitrogen and the resulting solution was treatedwith ethyl chlorooxoacetate (9.3 mL, 83 mmol) in presence of triethylamine(12 ml, 83 mmol) at room temperature under continuousstirring for 30 min. The resulting solution was filtered and thesolvent was removed under vacuum to afford an oily crude, whichquickly became solid. The obtained white solid was suspended inwater and filtered off, then washed with a small amount of diethylether and dried under vacuum.
