A 500 ml reaction vessel equipped with a stirrer, a thermometer and a reflux condenser was charged with 123.9 g (1.10 mol) of chlorosulfonic acid (CISO3H) and 98.1 g (0.70 mol) of chlorosulfonyl isocyanate.
The temperature of this mixed liquid was raised to 130° C. under stirring over a period of 2.5 hours, and reaction was performed at this temperature for 9 hours.
Following completion of the reaction, distillation was performed under reduced pressure, and a fraction was collected at 98.5° C. to 101° C./4.2 torr.
Di(chlorosulfonyl)imide was obtained as a colorless transparent liquid in an amount of 77.9 g (0.36 mol).
