465 2-ethyl-1,3-benzoxazole-5-carboxylate

2-ethyl-1,3-benzoxazole-5-carboxylate
Into a 100-mL round-bottom flask purged and maintained with an inert atmosphere of nitrogen, was placed methyl 3-amino-4-hydroxybenzoate (3 g, 17.95 mmol, 1.00 equiv), 1,1,1-triethoxypropane (37 mL), trifluoroacetic acid (2.2 mL). The resulting solution was stirred for 1.5 h at 25° C. The reaction solution was diluted with 50 mL of DCM. The mixture was washed with 2×20 mL of saturated aqueous NaHCO3 and 1×50 mL of brine. Then it was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under vacuum. This resulted in 3.8 g of methyl 2-ethyl-1,3-benzoxazole-5-carboxylate as a red brown oil.
