EXAMPLE 11A. [00168] To a solution of methyl 3,5-dihydroxy benzoate (1.5 g, 8.9 mmol) in MeCN (20 mL) was added isopropyl bromide (4.2 mL, 44.6 mmol) and Cs₂CO₃ (8.7 g, 26.7 mmol). The reaction was stirred at reflux (85°C) for 12 h and was then cooled to RT. The reaction was quenched with H₂O and extracted with EtOAc (3x). The organic layer was washed with H₂O and brine, dried (MgSO₄), filtered, and concentrated in vacuo to give Part A compound (2.0 g, 93% yield) as a yellow oil.
