Step 3:; Palladium (10% on charcoal, 1 g) was added to a solution of compund 29-3 (10 g, 47.6 mmol) in 400 mL of a 1/1 mixture of THF-absolute EtOH. The mixture was stirred under hydrogen atmosphere for 16 h, then the solution was filtered to remove the catalyst and concentrated to give 8.5 g (99 % yield) of compound 29-4 as an off-white solid. The compound was used as such for the next reaction.
