2.2.2. Synthesis of stearohydrazide
Methyl oleate (0.1 M) was poured in the 100 mL RBF having 80%hydrazine hydrate (0.1 M) which was refluxed with stirring for 9 husing ethanol as solvent. The resultant mixture was taken in a beakerand precipitate was obtained by keeping the beaker on ice box for fewminutes and then was filtered. The recrystallization was done fromethanol to get stearohydrazide [6,25]. The yield was 84%, m.p. 107 °C,IR: (KBr, cm-1) 3316-3100 (NH-NH2), 2921, 2853 (CeH), 1629(O]CeNH), 1160 (CeOeC), 720 [(CH2)n]. 1H NMR: (CDCl3, δ, ppm):8.38 (1H, s, NH), 3.75 (2H, s, NH2), 2.31 (2H, t, CH2-CONH), 1.62 (2H,m, CH2CH2-CO), 1.27 (28H, s, 14×CH2), 0.91 (3H, t, CH3). ESI-MS:m/z 299 (M+H). Anal. calcd. for C18H38N2O: C, 72.42; H, 12.83; N,9.38%. Found: C, 72.71; H, 12.29; N, 9.49%.
