Tetraphenylsilane synthesis

11synthesis methods
Tetraphenylsilane (TPSi) can be obtained by reaction of phenylmagnesium bromide with tetrachlorosilane or by reaction of phenyllithium with alkoxysilanes.TETRAPHENYLSILANE
-

Yield:1048-08-4 88%

Reaction Conditions:

with n-butyllithium in tetrahydrofuran;hexane at -90;Inert atmosphere;

Steps:

5 Example 5:

Under the full protection of nitrogen, add 400ml of tetrahydrofuran and 50g of bromobenzene into the 1000ml reactor, and cool down to -90°C after fully dissolving,Then, 121 ml of n-butyllithium (n-butyllithium is a 2.5mol/L n-hexane solution) was added dropwise at -90°C. The tetrahydrofuran solution of phenylchlorosilane (98.6g of triphenylchlorosilane was dissolved in 300ml of tetrahydrofuran), after the dropwise addition was completed, the temperature was naturally raised to room temperature, poured into 2000ml of water and stirred for 1 hour. Wash with 220ml toluene at 80°C for 1 hour, then cool down to 25°C with suction filtration to obtain fine products4-Bromotetraphenylsilane 94.1 g, HPLC=99.4%, yield 88%.
