Steps:

Typical procedure for the decarboxylation of substituted cinnamic acids in a deepeutectic solvent
General procedure: A 20-mL test tube equipped with magnetic stirring bar was charged with 1 mmol substituted cinnamic acid and 5ml DES, heated at 140 C in an oil bath for 4 h. After the mixture was cooled to room temperature, extracted with ethyl acetate (3x15 mL), combined, and evaporated under vacuum. Pure product was obtained by silica gel column chromatography with PE and ethyl acetate.
