| Sodium diphenylamine-4-sulfonate Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | off-white powder | Uses | Redox indicatorSodium diphenylamine-4-sulfonate is used as a pH independent redox indicator used in the determination of redox potential. It is used in the preparation of poly-(aninile-co-N-(4-sulfophenyl)aniline) by polymerization with aniline. It acts as a ligand and form complexes with metal halides like lanthanum(III) chloride. It is also involved in the synthesis of gold nano crystals by reaction with chloroauric acid in the presence of polyethylene glycol. | General Description | Sodium diphenylamine-4-sulfonate has the ability to form colored complexes with metal ions. Hence it is commonly used as an indicator to estimate the concentration of metal ions. It is also an efficient quencher of electrochemiluminescence of tris (2, 2′-bipyridine)-ruthenium (II). |
