2-Diisopropylaminoethanol Usage And Synthesis
Chemical Propertiescolourless to slightly yellow liquid
Uses2-(Diisopropylamino)ethanol is used in method for preparing Fluvardiol catalyzed by carbonyl reductase.
General DescriptionA colorless liquid. Slightly soluble in water and less dense than water. Severely irritates skin and eyes. Flash point 175°F. Used to make other chemicals.
Air & Water ReactionsSlightly soluble in water.
Reactivity ProfileN,N-DIISOPROPYL ETHANOLAMINE is an amino alcohol. Neutralizes acids in exothermic reactions to form salts plus water. May be incompatible with isocyanates, halogenated organics, peroxides, phenols (acidic), epoxides, anhydrides, and acid halides. Flammable gaseous hydrogen is generated in combination with strong reducing agents, such as hydrides.
Health HazardTOXIC; inhalation, ingestion or skin contact with material may cause severe injury or death. Contact with molten substance may cause severe burns to skin and eyes. Avoid any skin contact. Effects of contact or inhalation may be delayed. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may be corrosive and/or toxic and cause pollution.
Fire HazardNon-combustible, substance itself does not burn but may decompose upon heating to produce corrosive and/or toxic fumes. Some are oxidizers and may ignite combustibles (wood, paper, oil, clothing, etc.). Contact with metals may evolve flammable hydrogen gas. Containers may explode when heated.
Safety ProfileModerately toxic by ingestion and skin contact. A skin and severe eye irritant.
