EXAMPLE 2Selective Formation of 2,4-hexadiene From Neat 1-hexene; In an argon-filled glovebox, (lPr4Anthraphos)Ir(C2H4) (8.0 mg, 0.0127 mmol) was dissolved in 1 -hexene (2.5 g, 29.7 mol) and sealed with a Teflon stopcock. The solution was then heated in a preheated oil bath and 180 °C. At regular intervals, the reaction mixture was bro ught to room temperature and an aliquot of the sample analyzed by GC. An aliquot of 90 ^iL of solution was combined with 10 μ, of mesitylene as an internal standard. The sample solution was then analyzed by GC with comparison to authentic products. The relative amounts of the products are shown below in TABLE 2.
