8. Preparation of Substrates

General procedure: 8.1 Generally Procedure for the Preparation of 3c, 3l, 3o, 3f, 3s.Thiophenol (5.0 mmol, 1.0 equiv.) was dissolved in acetone (30 mL), and then potassium carbonate (1.4 g,10.0 mmol, 2.0 equiv.) was added. After iodomethane (2.1g, 15.0 mmol, 3.0 equiv.) was added dropwise, themixture was heated to reflux for 12 h. Then, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, filteredthrough celite and the solvent removed under reduced pressure. The residue was diluted with EtOAc (15 mL),washed with brine (10 mL), dried with Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was purified byflash column chromatography to give the correspounding product.
