Steps:

1 Example 1 3-fluoro-4-methylsulfanylnitrobenzene

8g of 3, 4-difluoronitrobenzene was dissolved in 50ML of THF and 5g of sodium thiomehtoxide was added thereto and stirred for ten minutes, and then 5ML of DMF was slowly added thereto and stirred at an ambient temperature for 6 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with 200ML of water to obtain light yellow solid, which was filtered and washed with cool ethanol and water to give 10. Og of the title compound as a light yellow solid (yield 88%). 'H-NMR (400MHZ, CDC13) 6 2.50 (s, 3 H), 7.29 (TD, 1 H, 7. 5, 8.6 HZ), 7. 87 (DD, 1 H, J = 9. 8, 2.3 HZ), 8.12 (DDD, 1H, J = 8.6, 2. 3, 0.7 HZ)
