B. Synthesis of 1,3-thiazole-2-sulfonamide To a solution of (tert-butyl)(1,3-thiazol-2-ylsulfonyl)amine (0.22 g, 1.0 mmol) in 1,2-dichloroethane (10 mL) was added methanesulfonic acid (0.26 mL, 4 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated at 80° C. for 9 hr, concentrated in vacuo and chromatographed to give pure sulfonamide (0.14 g, 88%). ES-MS (M+H)+=164.9.
