2.1 Ig (10.82 mmol, 1 eq.) of 4-(4-Nitro-phenyl)-butyric acid in THF was treated with 22 ml of 21.64 mmol, 2eq.) Borane-THF complex at RT and stirred for 1 hour. When TLC showed the reaction was complete, the reaction mixture was quenched with MeOH and H₂O. the desired product was extracted with EtOAc and removal of the solvent to afford crude 3- (4-Nitro-phenyl)-propan-l-ol in 1.85 g (10.28 mmol, 95% yield), which was hydrogenised in MeOH under H₂/Pd(C) condition to afford 1.61 g (10.66 mmol, 98.5 yield) of 3-(4-Amino- phenyl)-propan-l -ol.
