Steps:

A.1 Step 1 :

To a solution of 1H-indazole-7-carbonitrile (1.00 g, 6.98 mmol) in N,N- dimethylformamide (10 mL ) was added N-bromosuccinimide (1.24 g, 6.98 mmol) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The mixture was diluted with water. The solids were collected by filtration and dried under vacuum to afford 3-bromo-1 H-indazole-7-carbonitrile (1.30 g, 83%) as a white solid. MS m/z 222.0 [M+1]⁺.
