Steps:
A Step A: 4- ( (1H-1, 2, 4-triazol-1-yl) methyl) benzaldehyde
To a solution of 4- (bromomethyl) benzaldehyde (200 mg, 1 mmol) , and K2CO3(200 mg, 1.5 mmol) in acetone (5mL) was added 1H-1, 2, 4-triazole (75 mg, 2.2 mmol) . Then the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The mixture was diluted with water (50 mL) , extracted with EtOAc (60 mL) , washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, concentrated and the residue was purified by combi-flash to give the target compound (130 mg, 69%) . MS: M/e 188 (M+1)+.
