Compound 49: (4-Bromo-2-fluoro-benzyl)-methyl-amine. (1029) A mixture of 4-bromo-2-fluorobenzoic acid (1.0 equiv.), methylamine hydrochloride (1.1 equiv.), benzotriazol-1-yloxytris(dimethylamino)phosphonium hexafluorophosphate (1.1 equiv.) and diisopropylethylamine (3.3 equiv.) in dichloromethane (0.20 mol.L^-1) was stirred for 2 hours at room temperature. The reaction mixture was hydrolyzed and extracted twice with dichloromethane. The organic layers were combined, washed with brine, dried over MgSO₄, concentrated, and purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel (10% to 50% EtOAc in cyclohexane) to afford the intermediate methylamide as a white solid in quantitative yield.
