Intermediate 17: step a 1-Methyl-1H-benzoimidazole-5-carboxylic acid methoxy-methyl-amide To a mixture of 1-methyl-1H-benzoimidazole-5-carbonyl chloride.HCl (1 g, 4.33 mmol) and O,N-dimethyl-hydroxylamine.HCl (422 mg, 4.33 mmol) in dichloromethane (15 mL) was added Et₃N (2.4 mL, 17.3 mmol) dropwise. The reaction mixture was stirred for 24 h. Water (20 mL) was added and the solution was extracted with dichloromethane. The organic extracts were dried (Na₂SO₄), filtered, concentrated and purified through column chromatography to afford the title compound as a white solid.
