Production Methods
Isobutylaldehyde is used as a raw material, and aldol condensation and Cannizzaro reactions are completed by a one-step reaction process in the presence of a catalyst, which adopts sodium alcoholate as the catalyst. The isobutylaldehyde forms 2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate in the presence of the sodium alcoholate catalyst.
General Description
2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate (TMPD-MIB, texanol), a volatile organic compound (VOC), is an important component found in paints and printing inks. It is utilized as a coalescing agent to reduce the minimal film forming temperature (MFFT) during latex film preparation. Its detection in polypropylene packed food samples has been reported by coupled capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HRGC-MS). The performance of various dispersant affecting the dispersion of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) in texanol has been studied.

Alcohol ester 12 can improve the colour development of paint film weatherability, cleanablity touch-up paint and improvement coating, etc., and toxicity is low, consumption is few, stability to hydrolysis is good, be a kind of safe, be efficiently adapted to the novel green furtherance film of all kinds of synthetic resin emulsion coating.
